Cars for Stars Limited wins case for copyright infringement

During the latter part of 2004, Cars for Stars became aware of a company using copy from a Cars for Stars website on their own website. Having provided several opportunities for the company to remove the copy to no avail, Cars for Stars initiated copyright infringement proceedings against the company. The case was heard on the 26th August 2005 and the judge found in favour of Cars for Stars Limited and awarded damages in excess of £2000 against Southampton based Party Limos Limited and company director Lisa Jay.

Company director Stephen Hughes said "The last thing we wanted to do was to take another limousine hire company to court, however, we were left with no alternative when the company refused to acknowledge the infringement and continued to publish the content. In December 2004, we reluctantly issued copyright infringement proceedings. Whilst we are pleased with the outcome, we are nonetheless disappointed that court action was necessary. More....
