Ferrari trains to be launched in Italy

Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori (NTV) are planning to become Europe’s first high speed privately owned rail operator following the launch of its Ferrari trains which are scheduled to be fully operational throughout Italy by March of next year.

€1 billion has been invested in the Italo trains and the creation of 2,000 jobs along with the launch of the new high speed rail service. The trains are all bright red, the colour synonymous with the Ferrari brand, and feature sleek exteriors and a number of luxurious onboard features which bear the distinctive mark of the high end automobile manufacturer.

Using the tiered system most commonly associated with airlines whereby three different classes of tickets are available, the bullet Ferrari trains are split into different carriages which all carry a specific level of specification depending upon the price of the ticket.

The high end tickets offer passengers the chance to enjoy tunnel proof wireless Wi-Fi facilities and also the use of a designated Cinema Coach at the rear of each train where movie screenings will take place. Each train has 11 carriages all of which offer Wi-Fi internet connections and also satellite TV.

In addition, each station where the new high speed trains stop will have their own Italo lounges where passengers wait for their trains, and also a separate ticket office.

Price details for the new Ferrari rail service are yet to be confirmed, although the consortium behind the new service say the rates will be competitive.

22-year-old pays extra £45k to skip the waiting list for the new Lamborghini Aventador

A wealthy Saudi Arabian man has forked out an extra £45,000 just to avoid an 18 month wait to take delivery of the very latest Lamborghini Aventador. The 22-year-old contacted a businessman over 4,000 miles away in Weston-super-Mare in the UK who specialises in sourcing the very latest models of supercars for wealthy clients who was able to track down the new Lambo for the impatient buyer.

Although the 22-year-old graduate had to pay an extra £45,000 on top of the actual price of the Lamborghini, bringing his final bill for the sports car to £290,000, Dhiaa al-Essa’s grandfather is estimated to be worth £1.5 billion and so the added cost to get the Aventador before anyone else wouldn’t have broken the bank.

Shaun Williams who runs, BestPriceCarBuyers.com, was the man responsible for tracking down the Lamborghini for 22-year-old Dhiaa. With over 20 years worth of experience in the car sales business, Mr Williams has a wealth of contacts in the luxury car sales industry and is able to track down the very latest models across a range of brands which is why his clients contact him ahead of their local dealerships to avoid any lengthy waiting lists.

Why the youngster was in such a hurry to get his hands on the new Lamborghini we’re not sure as his personal range of vehicles is estimated to be worth $12 million and includes some of the most prestigious cars in the world including the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, Rolls Royce Coupe and the Rolls Royce Phantom, the three other Lamborghini models, and six Ferraris, five Porsche sports cars and a Maybach, Audi R8, Lexus and numerous BMWs; we don’t know when he must get the time to drive them all?!

Is this the most expensive sports car crash ever?

A car accident in Japan on Sunday saw a fleet of gleaming Ferraris collide with a Lamborghini and three Mercedes Benz sports cars and two other vehicles is what many are describing as the most expensive car pileup in history.

Eight Ferraris were reported to have been involved in the smash that happened on the southern prefecture of Yamaguchi on Sunday morning. It’s thought the driver of one of the Ferraris tried to change lanes but ended up hitting the middle barrier, after which the other Ferraris piled into the sports car as it spun 180 degrees in the highway, causing the rest of the cars following to crash also.

It is believed the luxury cars were all being drive in convoy to Hiroshima by members of an automobile enthusiasts club. One eyewitness described the vehicles as travelling between 85-100mph.

10 people were reported to have sustained minor injuries as a result of the pileup, although no one was seriously hurt. The highway was closed for 6 hours after the crash as the emergency authorities attempted to clear the debris and luxury sports cars from the road.

It’s been estimated that the cost of the accident could run to £2.46 million with many of the Ferraris involved in the accident said to completely written off as a result of the smash.

Ferrari offer sports car personalisation service

Ferrari is the latest luxury brand to offer its customers the chance to create a completely bespoke sports car courtesy of their new personalisation service, Tailor Made.

First unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last month, Ferrari cars can now be tailored in order to create a truly unique and one-off vehicle for each customer; although the cost of equipping your new sports car with extra special design features doesn’t come cheap, with the cost of tailoring a Ferrari using the new service adding between 20 – 60% more to the price of the new car.

Launching the new Tailor Made service will no doubt help Ferrari boosts its profit margins. The luxury car maker announced that it will only sell a maximum of 7,000 vehicles a year to ensure the brand retains its exclusivity, but with the car making industry being squeezed like any other industry, the Tailor Made service is likely to be an insurance strategy to ensure Ferrari capitalises from each sale as much as possible.

At the recent Motor Show, Ferrari displayed one example from its Tailor Made range, showcasing a Matt blue sports car with matching denim and leather trim interior. There’s no limit to the list of innovative and unique features Ferrari offer as part of their personalisation service including cashmere covered upholstery, gold exterior, and an extensive choice of exclusive finishes and materials available to give Ferrari cars the ultimate Wow Factor.

Other luxury car manufacturers also offer this type of bespoke styling, including Porsche and Bentley.

Ferrari sports car crashes into Lake in Canada

A rare Ferrari sports car crashed into a saltwater lake in Canada after the driver lost control of the high speed car during a race.

The Ferrari Enzo, worth an estimated $1.5 million and one of only 400 models made by Ferrai, was plunged into the water after the driver of the sports car lost control as the vehicle hit a stone on the track as it came around a bend on the race track at a very high speed.

Spectators at the Targa Newfoundland Rally in Canada described seeing the luxury sports spin a full 180 degrees, before hurtling backwards towards a ledge overlooking the lake, before plummeting into the water below.

The Ferrari was being driven by Calgary based car dealer, Zahir Rana, and friend Roland Linder was also travelling onboard as co-driver and navigator. The two men managed to scramble out of the crashed Ferrari unharmed.

Despite the dramatic nature of the crash, the luxury sports car only sustained minimal damage including a smashed bumper and wing, although the problems to the bodywork are mostly cosmetic. The main issue to be resolved following the crash will be to correct the electronics as they became wet after being submerged in the lake.

After the Ferrari was lifted from the lake by a crane, the car dealer owner had two of his best mechanics work for 14 hours straight to strip the car back immediately to try and minimise the damage caused by the water.

The plucky car dealer says that despite the accident, he has every intention of returning to the race next year.

The new performance car sits just over a metre high, and also features upward opening doors so as to allow passengers in the Aventador the opportunity to make an attention-grabbing entrance.

The top name car maker announced at the grand unveiling of the Aventador car at the Geneva Motor Show that the first batch of cars will roll off the assembly line in time for summer. However these super cars don’t come cheap, with the starting price for a new Lamborghini Aventador standing at £242,000.

Ferrari driving lotto winner fined for using mobile behind the wheel

EuroMillions winner, Ryan Magee from Northern Ireland, was hit with a £200 fine this week after he admitted driving his £157,000 Ferrari while talking on his mobile phone.

The luxury sports car was one of the first purchases Magee made after scooping £6 million on lottery three years ago. With a top speed of 200 mph, the state of the art Ferrari F430 Spider is likely to be top of the wish list for most petrol heads should they be lucky enough to win the lottery.

The 28-year-old was one of 16 people throughout Europe, 6 of whom from the UK, who shared the record jackpot of £95 million. Before the lottery draw, the IT expert said he had a feeling he was going to win, and so bought 11 tickets from 4 different shops.

However, last summer the flashy Ferrari attracted the attention of the police when officers in County Derry in Northern Ireland spotted the millionaire driving the super car while chatting on his mobile phone.

28-year-old Ryan admitted the charge at Londonderry Magistrates Court and was issued with a £200 fine, plus 3 points were added to his licence, and a further fine of £50 was handed down for failure to produce his driving licence when requested.
